Acrostic Poems

An acrostic poem is a verse in which
sets of letters
(like the beginning letters) form a word.

The examples on this page were completed by fourth graders using the
word "Tree". They used Microsoft Works to type their poems.
The directions for this exercise were to type each line as follows:

1.) set the font size to 40, type in the first letter, followed by two spaces

2.) change the font size to 20, type the rest of the line, press the enter key two times.

This exercise is good for learning to change the size of fonts.

Acrostic poems can be done with any word....Loneliness, Winning, Spring, Winter.
The possibilities are endless, and some kids find it helpful to have a word as a starting point.
